I have always been fascinated by what people can do with a cake and some icing. I love challenging myself to see if I can do what others have made using the same medium. If you need a cake, let's talk! ~Kelly (a.k.a. Pony)

A wonderful beginning
This cake was made for my good friend Kamal and his wife Karuna who recently married in India and was served at a reception held in their honor. I was able to try out several new decorating techniques including making gelatin butterflies. I hope they liked it!!

Speaking of Monkeys
I made this cake for a friend at work who wanted something related to the Wizard of Oz...specifically the flying monkeys. Her only other request was to have some legs coming out of the side of the cake just like the first witch in the movie. I also tried using rice paper for the witch. It's a little hard to see, but the yellow around the side is the 'yellow brick road'.
Fancy
This was a wedding cake with ivory and black as the colors. I was pretty happy with how the 'brooch' came out.

Here are a few monkeys I made after watching a u-tube videos on how to make fondant animals. I think they turned out kinda cute!

A Great Cause
Every year at work, we have a Christmas bake sale to benefit cancer research. This year I donated a cake and two dozen cupcakes to help out. I had fun making these treats. Some used techniques I'd seen on my favorite cake web site and some were 'borrowed' ideas from other blogs I visit. See what you think.

Fortune Cookie
This cake was for a 9 yr old girl's birthday who was having an Asian themed party. We decided on a fortune cookie. The client requested chocolate cake with buttercream icing. I was able to get the 'edges' by building up icing around the 'gap' and used the airbrush to darken them up just like a real cookie would be after baking. The 'fortune' was hand drawn and covered in contact paper to make it safe for inserting into the cookie. I had fun trying out my sculpting skills on this one!!
Hello Kitty
My friend loves Hello Kitty. For her birthday, I decided she had to have her fav. Her color is purple so the bow was too. This cake is all buttercream icing.
